Welcome

What will MCC Toronto look like in the year 2020?  What will we be doing together at MCC Toronto in the year 2020?  What will you be doing at MCC Toronto in the year 2020?

Focus on the future continues at MCC Toronto as a result of multiple congregational conversations throughout much of 2011.  Congregants have been invited into the spiritual practice of discerning our direction for the years ahead.  This series of holy conversations has provided opportunities for prayerful reflection, creative dreaming and meaningful dialogue.  These conversations and the steps to follow are central to what we are calling The 2020 Vision Project.

Thanks to the hundreds of people at MCC Toronto who have participated in these conversations by attending one or more of the congregational forums, responding to surveys, or through this website. A record of all the conversations as well as responses to the 20 Powerful Questions can be viewed on this site. You can access these documents through the navigation above.

What Comes Next?

The 2020 Vision Project Team completed its final report in December 2011. The report provides a full summary of the 2020 Vision Project conversations along with recommendations. You can now view the report on this site.  View Report

The next steps are the adoption of two new statements

  • A Statement of Mission will make a clear declaration of the mission identity of this congregation that states, who we are, who we serve, and what we are called to do.
  • A Statement of Vision will provide a picture of what this church will look like by 2020 if it fulfills its mission. This includes a view of the ideal state of this church and the impact it hopes to have on others

The Senior Pastor selected a five-person team which has developed drafts of a new mission statement, a new vision statement and a draft on implementation of the vision which provides information on some assumptions and possible implications of the vision becoming a reality. The work of the drafting team is informed by the summary report of the congregational conversations.  View Statements

Once again, you can give feedback to the drafting team before the statements are finalized and presented to MCC Toronto’s Board of Directors in February 2012 for approval as the Mission and Vision Statements of this congregation.  You can access this survey to participate now and until January 27, 2012.  Participate in Survey
